Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT)

A MSLT is a diagnostic sleep test that measures the time it takes from the start of a daytime nap to the first signs of sleep‚ called sleep latency. This test is used to test for narcolepsy‚ which is a neurological condition that causes excessive daytime sleepiness. During four or five‚ twenty minute daytime naps‚ the test will objectively tell the difference between physical tiredness and true daytime sleepiness. This study is usually performed the day after a diagnostic sleep study.
